Food charity helping to feed hungry during coronavirus outbreak

A food charity and the emergency services have secured extra storage space at two Deptford business estates to support their vital work during the Coronavirus pandemic.

FareShare works to relieve food poverty and reduce food waste in the UK and has moved into two previously unoccupied railway arches on the Parkside Business Estate.

Three other arches at Deptford’s Apollo Business Park are being used by the London Ambulance Service.

The properties have been offered to the organisations by The Arch Company, which is the UK’s largest small business landlord.

FareShare is using the properties on a rent-free basis to store food donations from supermarkets and other suppliers before they are packed and distributed to vulnerable people by Red Cross and NHS volunteers.
