Get ready for The Baton Awards 2024
By Paloma Lacy
The Baton Awards 2024 promises to be the biggest and best event yet. Who will be there to collect a baton as one of the brightest and most accomplished women of colour in their chosen field.
Nominations for the seventh Baton Awards are open now and close on August 23, 2024.
This trailblazing awards ceremony highlights the achievements of women of colour globally, in the business, charitable and sectors beyond these.
The idea of diversity and inclusion is nothing new in 2024. But the Baton Awards have been passing on the baton for longer than most.
Every year The Baton Awards takes place during 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-based Violence, that follows the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women on November 25, 2024.
The Baton Awards raises funds for children’s domestic abuse charity Strength Within Me foundation (S.W.I.M), a pioneering intervention to address domestic abuse among young girls and women.
Why does the Baton Awards exist? Women from diverse ethnic backgrounds continue to be overlooked.
Event founder, Dr. Diahanne Rhiney, BCAe, said the event is about recognising the achievements of under-represented women, allowing them to be listened to.
Nominations are invited from all over the UK, with a special category for global submissions, in 14 categories, including Entrepreneur of the Year, Third Sector of the Year, Thought Leader of the Year, and STEM trailblazer.
