Free meals for kids at libraries and leisure centres this summer in Greenwich

Children can get a free packed lunch at libraries and leisure centres in Greenwich this summer, as the council aims to ensure food is available to any young person who needs it.

Holiday meals can be picked up at lunchtime from sites all over the borough, with no forms or fuss for families. Simply turn up, tuck in and enjoy.

There will be free activities on offer at libraries, too, so there will be loads for kids to get involved with once they’ve eaten.

Greenwich councillor, Matt Morrow, said: “With the cost of living crisis looming for many families, the Royal Borough of Greenwich committed to providing food for young people to help families who may be struggling.

“We believe it’s simply unacceptable that any child should have to go hungry just because they are not in school.

“The last thing families need this summer is to be worried about providing food for their kids. This support is not provided by the Government, but we do it because it is the right thing to do.”

Kids can choose from a selection of sandwiches, fruit and juices – there’s something to cater for everyone’s taste

Meals are served at libraries and adventure play centres throughout the Summer holidays.

You can find your closest location on the Greenwich council website.
