Hospice starts campaign to raise vital funds for nursing care
A hospice has started its first Sponsor a Nurse campaign to raise funds for the vital nursing care they provide.
St Raphael’s Hospice in London Road, Sutton, cares for more than 1,000 people facing life-limiting illnesses across Merton and Sutton.
Michelle Brocklehurst, palliative care clinical nurse specialist at the hospice, said: “This is a vital appeal for us. We rely on the generosity of our community to help us carry out the important work we do.”
It costs the charity £6.5million a year to provide free specialist services to its patients with only 25 per cent of its funding coming from the NHS.
Ms Brocklehurst said: “Nurses at St Raphael’s focus on living. We treat the person, not just the illness.
“By sponsoring a St Raphael’s nurse today, you will help ensure that people live the fullest life they can.”
People can donate to St Raphael’s Sponsor a Nurse appeal with a one-off donation or by signing up to donate on a regular basis.
