Kensington man pleads guilty to stalking after messaging victim on social media for seven months

A Kensington man has been convicted stalking a woman in her 20s, after he spent seven months continually messaging her on social media.

Alexander Rodrigo Kaliszewski, 34, of Longridge Road, Kensington and Chelsea, also engineered meeting her near to her home on a number of occasions.

Kaliszewski did not know the victim.

He appeared at City of London Magistrates Court on Thursday, December 16 where he pleaded guilty to stalking involving serious alarm/distress.

He was released on bail to next appear at the same court on Friday, January 14, 2022.

Kaliszewski was arrested and charged on Friday, November 22 with stalking involving serious alarm/distress. He was released on bail.

From Sunday, January 26 to Tuesday, August 4, 2020, Kaliszewski continually messaged the victim on social media.

Detective Constable Katie Newton said: “The fact that the victim did not know the defendant made this unwanted contact even more sinister and disturbing.

“Women and girls have right to feel safe online and in public and should not be subjected to forced contact from men they either don’t know, or with whom they don’t wish to engage.

“I hope the defendant’s admission of guilt brings the victim a measure of comfort, at the very least it will prevent the added pressure of going to trial.”
