Man arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A drug in Sydenham

Police have seized a loaded firearm, a large quantity of heroin and thousands of pounds in cash after stopping a vehicle in Sydenham.

On Monday, 23 March officers from Specialist Crime stopped a car in Sydenham Road.

Officers searched the vehicle and recovered about 6oz of heroin.

The driver, a 44-year-old man, was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply a Class A drug.

Officers searched an address linked to him and recovered a further 10kg of Class A drugs – heroin and cocaine, 40 kilos of cannabis, paraphernalia used in drugs production, a loaded revolver, and about £12,000 in cash.

He was further arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life

He was been taken to a South London police station where he remains in custody.

Detective Sergeant Jones, from Specialist Crime, said: “I am pleased that we have been able to take a loaded weapon off the streets of London as well as a large quantity of drugs.

“Officers are conducting operations like this every day in order to protect the public and we will continue in our efforts to bear down on violent crime in the capital.”
