Man dies after collision in Croydon
A man has died following a collision in Croydon yesterday.
Police were called to Portland Road shortly after 7.30am to reports of a traffic collision involving a pedestrian and a black BMW car.
Police and ambulance service workers attended to a man in his 30s with severe injuries.
Despite best efforts of medics from LAS, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
His next of kin have been informed.
The BMW had left the scene prior to officers’ arrival and was found a short distance away within an hour of the collision.
A man has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and remains in custody at a South London police station.
Roads were closed for some time to allow for collision investigation and have now reopened.
