Man in ‘critical condition’ after incident in Camberwell

A man has been taken to hospital by air ambulance after police discovered him with a serious injury.

The man was discovered in Camberwell Church Street at the junction with Grove Lane at around 5.40pm yesterday by police who were out on a regular patrol.

The Met confirmed he was taken by helicopter to a South London hospital where he remains in a critical condition.

Reports this morning of a cordon set up in the area show the takeaway shop Falafel and Shawarma in Camberwell Church Street with broken glass with a blue forensics tent directly outside.

A Met spokesman said: “At 5.40pm on Wednesday, December 28, police on patrol in Southwark found a man with a man, aged his 20s, seriously injured in Camberwell Church Street, at the junction with Grove Lane, Camberwell.

“He was treated at the scene by London’s Air Ambulance at the scene before being taken to a South London hospital where he remains there in a critical condition.

“His next of kin have been informed. 

“A crime scene is in place. No arrests have been made and enquiries are ongoing.”
