More than 30 jobs created as Aldi opens Thamesmead store
More than 30 new jobs have been created after an Aldi store opened in Thamsemead.
Olympic rower Tom Ransley, who won gold in the men’s eight at the Rio Olympics in 2016, opened the store in Central Way on Friday of last week.
The store will be run by manager Brett Kavanah-Early, along with a team of 37 colleagues from the local community.
As part of Aldi’s Get Set To Eat Fresh campaign, which aims to inspire 1.2 million schoolchildren aged five to 14 to learn more about the benefits of cooking fresh, healthy food with their families, Mr Ransley, who also won bronze at the London 2012 games, gave away complimentary bags of fresh fruit and vegetables to the first 30 customers in the queue.
Mr Kavanah-Early said: “It’s been a fantastic morning here at our grand opening. It was lovely to meet our new customers and I look forward to meeting more of the community in the coming weeks.
“I’d also like to say a big thank you to the wonderful Tom Ransley for being a part of our celebrations.”
