MP launches political summer school to ‘supercharge’ work experience
An MP has launched a political summer school in a bid to “supercharge” work experience opportunities for young people from Battersea.
Marsha de Cordova, MP for Battersea, will welcome 18 to 24 year olds into Westminster with sessions being held in Parliament as well as in organisations within the constituency including Penguin Random House HQ.
The MPs fourth summer school will run for the week beginning July 7, featuring speakers in politics, journalism, local government and more.

Through these sessions, students will gain an insight into the work of an MP in parliament, including policy making, community activism and campaigning.
The Political Summer School for 2025 comes as more than one in three children at secondary school report that they do not know enough about good jobs available to them when they leave education.
To help address this, Ms Cordova’s Summer School has an open application process with no prior experience required.
Ms Cordova said: “Far too few young people have the chance to learn more about the jobs and opportunities available to them and what sparks their passions, and we all lose out as a result.

“That’s why I’m thrilled to launch my fourth Political Summer School which will deliver a full week of high-quality insights to a diverse group of participants.
“The Summer School will help to supercharge work experience opportunities and boost young people’s knowledge and confidence when deciding on their next steps. Include Breaking down Barriers and creating opportunities ”
The Political Summer School for 2025 will run from July 7 to 11 in Parliament and across Battersea.
