Pair arrested after man dies following collision in Croydon

A second person has been arrested after man died following a collision in Croydon.

On Tuesday of last week a 32-year-old woman from Croydon was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

She has been released on bail to a date in May.

Police were called to Portland Road shortly after 7.30am to reports of a traffic collision involving a pedestrian and a black BMW car.

Upon arrival, officers and colleagues from the London Ambulance Service attended to a 38-year-old man with severe injuries.

Despite the best efforts of medics from LAS, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

His next of kin have been informed.

The BMW had left the scene prior to officers’ arrival and was found a short distance away within an hour of the collision.

A 40-year-old man was later arrested the same day at an address in Lambeth on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

He has been bailed to date in early May.
