Police investigate death of Croydon three-year-old

Detectives from the Homicide and Major Crime Command are investigating the suspicious death of a three-year-old boy.

Three people have already been charged as a result of the investigation into the death of Alfie Lamb, of Adams Way, Croydon.

Police were called by paramedics to his home at 7.29pm on February 1, to reports of an unresponsive child – the three-year-old was in cardiac arrest.

He was taken to a central London hospital by London Ambulance Service and was pronounced dead on February 4.

The death is being treated as suspicious. Officers await a final report of a post-mortem examination carried out on 7 February 7 at St Thomas’ Hospital.

Three people were arrested on February 28. They are a 23-year-old woman, an 18-year-old woman and a 25-year-old man. The first woman was charged on Sunday, with ill-treatment of a child, contrary to section 1, Children and Young Persons Act 1933; and with perverting the course of justice.

The second woman was charged on the same day with perverting the course of justice.

The man was charged by postal requisition on May 30 with perverting the course of justice.

Detectives from the Homicide and Major Crime Command are investigating, led by Detective Chief Inspector Simon Harding.
