Ride hailing service donates packs of toys to brighten up Christmas for needy families

A children’s charity has received a generous donation of toys and goodies to be gifted to needy families ahead of the festive period.

Little Village, a charity that provides clothes, toys and equipment for babies and children, has received a donation of packs of toys worth £250 from soon-to-launch Wandsworth-based ride hailing service UVA UK.

The packs are tailored by gender and age range, and will be gifted to the families that need them most in Wandsworth, Battersea and Southwark, where Little Village has centres.

Each pack includes toys, clothes and chocolates, well as an age-appropriate book to support the newly-launched Marcus Rashford Book Club, which aims to give children from disadvantaged backgrounds the chance to embrace reading from a young age.

Rebecca Wilson, head of programmes at Little Village, said: “We are very grateful to UVA UK for their generous donation of gifts.

“We know how important items such as books are for a child’s well-being and development and we really appreciate the time UVA have taken to put these donations together.”

UVA UK has also presented £250 to Wandsworth Foodbank, and plans to donate three per cent of its overall profits to charities in the UK.

Ayesha Rees, chief executive of UVA UK, said: “No one should go without, especially over Christmas. In a challenging year, it’s vital to give back and support those in our community who need it most.

“We hope that the donations make the festive period a little brighter for families across Wandsworth.”
