Scouts gain awards for their inspiring dedication
Two youngsters were among those garlanded for their efforts in the world of Scouting – receiving cash prizes as well as recognition.
The Jack Petchey Foundation Awards were presented at an even at Lambeth Assembly Hall.
It celebrated Achievement Award winners aged 11-25 from Lewisham for their contributions to their unit.
Winners received medallions and framed certificates from the Foundation, along with a £300 grant to spend for the benefit of their unit.
In addition, four adults were awarded Leader Awards for demonstrating outstanding ability to motivate young people. They also each received a medallion and a framed certificate.

Ruby Holloway, 16, who attends Scouts GLS Lewisham 02, was awarded the Jack Petchey Achievement Award for her dedication and perseverance.
She approaches her responsibilities with seriousness and is known as one of the most reliable teenagers in the scouting section, boasting an impeccable attendance record.
The organisers said Ruby fearlessly tackles challenges and excels, serving as an excellent role model within the scouting community.
Ruby decided to spend her £300 grant on a trip to a group candle light tour of Chislehurst Caves followed by a trip to McDonalds for her unit.
Sharing the limelight was Sami Elkhawad, 17, who attends Scouts GLS Southwark.
Sami was given his award for his leadership qualities. He actively participates in activities, earned awards, and serves as a role model.
Organisers said Sami’s commitment, leadership, and dedication as a young leader for the Beavers and Cubs make him invaluable.
“He ensures safety, imparts knowledge, and inspires others, earning respect and admiration,” said a spokeswoman. “Sami’s selflessness and positive influence make him a deserving award recipient.”
Sami decided to spend his grant on a boxing session for his unit.
