Use your feet to ‘Beat the Street’ and win prizes

Lambeth residents are being encouraged to get fit by taking part in a popular interactive game which involves visiting scores of contactless sensors dotted around the borough.

Some 136 Beat the Street boxes have been installed and are staging posts for those taking part by walking, cycling, scooting or rollerblading to different locations in the borough and accumulating points on a card.

Beat the Street said the teams at the top of the leaderboard at the end of the game win hundreds of pounds worth of vouchers, there are also weekly prizes and “goodies” for taking part.

Lambeth councillor Donatus Anyanwu said: “We are excited to be bringing Beat the Street to Lambeth. It’s free and it’s an inclusive and compelling game that encourages you to exercise in a fun way with friends and family, plus it’s a great way of getting to know your local area.”

Beat the Street encourages physical activity, but also helps reduce congestion, improves air quality, and helps friends and families spend time in green spaces together.
