AFC Wimbledon boss Johnnie Jackson hoping to extend his stay with League Two promotion-chasers

Johnnie Jackson would like to extend his stay at AFC Wimbledon.

The 41-year-old former Charlton manager has seven months remaining on his Dons deal.

Wimbledon are seventh in the League Two table and six points off the automatic promotion spots.

Jackson told the South London Press: “I have got a great relationship with the chairman and the board – they were really supportive of me in the tough moments.

“I like to think that I’m rewarding that faith that they showed in me with a team that they can be proud of – a team that’s hopefully capable of doing something special. That’s all I have ever wanted.

“I love working for this football club and I really enjoy it here.

“I’m starting to build up some really good relationships here. I’m well aware that under different circumstances and at a different club, I wouldn’t have been afforded that opportunity.

“I always felt that I was that man – and being given the tools that I have now – who could deliver a team that was really competitive.

“Obviously, I want that to continue, and hopefully, there will be some discussions around that soon.

“Going into this period though, I’m just concentrating on every game now and trying to stay in and around. It’s a really tough schedule but I’m really pleased with how it’s going so far.

“I like to think that people are enjoying what they’re watching week in, week out.”
