AFC Wimbledon’s League Two clash against Stevenage postponed due to frozen pitch
AFC Wimbledon’s home match against Stevenage has been called off after a pitch inspection at Plough Lane.
Wimbledon, who are unbeaten in their previous eight outings in League Two, were due to take on second-placed Stevenage at Plough Lane tomorrow.
The pitch inspection took place today at Plough Lane at midday.
Johnnie Jackson’s side also had their EFL Trophy round of 16 tie away to Plymouth Argyle postponed on Tuesday.
The tie will now take place this upcoming Wednesday [the 21st].
Wimbledon’s next match in League Two will take place on Boxing Day when they host Newport County at Plough Lane.
A club statement following the postponement of the Stevenage game said: “Despite the best efforts of club staff and volunteers, the pitch was deemed to be frozen and not safe to play on for tomorrow.
“A big thank you from the Club to all those volunteers who helped us to cover the pitch earlier this week.
“Tickets will still be valid for the rearranged fixture and we will update you with a date for this, once it has been agreed with the EFL and Stevenage.”
