Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish staying grounded despite back-to-back Premier League victories

Steve Parish is not getting carried away after Crystal Palace recorded back-to-back wins since Roy Hodgson’s return.

The Eagles have beaten relegation rivals Leicester City (2-1) and Leeds United (5-1) since Hodgson replaced Patrick Vieira and moved six points clear of the Premier League bottom three.

“So far, so good,” Palace chairman Parish told the South London Press of Hodgson’s return.

“I don’t get carried away when it’s going badly and I don’t get carried away when it’s going well.

“We’re not clear of it yet. This result (at Leeds) is good for goal difference and morale. We want to finish as high as we can as well.

“Let’s just keep going. I’m really pleased for the boys, for Roy, Ray (Lewington) and Paddy (McCarthy) – it was excellent.

“We picked them off, showed our quality and everybody did well. There is still work to do though – we need to keep our feet on the ground.

“We were excellent in the second half.”

Michael Olise became the first player to register three assists from open play last weekend. Jordan Ayew bagged a brace for the first time in his Premier League career.

“All of them were fantastic today – I wouldn’t want to single anyone out,” added Parish.

“Jordan with his two goals. I’d rather talk about some of the stick that some of the players get sometimes. He’s been such an excellent servant for us. If he gets in the position, he will get the goals.

“I thought Jordan was excellent. Schluppy was excellent. Sam Johnstone, especially, deserves special praise because we wouldn’t still have been in the game if it wasn’t for him.

“Michael and Ebs were brilliant, but equally, you have to give credit across the board. Marc Guehi was superb too and Wardy won everything.

“It was a good performance.”
