Crystal Palace close in on first January signing – with midfielder set for medical today

Crystal Palace are reportedly closing in on a deal to sign Stuttgart midfielder Nauirou Ahamada.

The Athletic are reporting that the Eagles have agreed a €12million fee with the Bundesliga side and a medical has been booked today for the French U18 international.

Marseille-born Ahamada progressed through Juventus’ academy, with Stuttgart initially signing the midfielder on a six-month loan spell before committing to a permanent deal in the summer.

Patrick Vieira currently has midfield options in the shape of Luka Milivojevic, Cheick Doucoure, Jeffrey Schlupp, Jairo Reidewald and Will Hughes.

David Ozoh, 17, made his debut for the club in the 0-0 draw with Newcastle last time out.

Ahamada has made 28 appearances in total for Stuttgart, scoring two goals and registering two assists during his time at the Mercedes-Benz Arena.

Ahamada was sent off in his last outing for the German side after he picked up two yellow cards during their 2-2 draw with Hoffenheim. However, the 20-year-old also set up both of Stuttgart’s goals.
