Crystal Palace suffer more injury blows during Liverpool defeat
Roy Hodgson was asked about the injuries his Crystal Palace side picked up during their 2-1 defeat at home to Liverpool on Saturday.
Ayew was sent off for a second yellow card offence in the 75th minute when he brought down Harvey Elliot on the counterattack.
He will miss next Saturday’s Premier League clash at Manchester City.
Odsonne Edouard was forced off at half-time due to injury and was replaced by Jean-Philippe Mateta.
Jefferson Lerma was also taken of due to injury, with Michael Olise coming on in his place.
Sam Johnstone also succumbed to injury as Remi Matthews made his Crystal Palace and Premier League debut at 29.
Jesurun Rak-Sakyi, Eberechi Eze, Cheick Doucoure, Dean Henderson and Tyrick Mitchell are also all missing for the Eagles due to injury.
Goals from Mohamed Salah and Harvey Elliot saw the Reds come from a goal down to win 2-1.
“We can’t afford injuries,” said Hodgson.
“Edouard we don’t know about – it’s a knee injury.
“It’s a calf injury to Johnstone and a hamstring injury for Lerma.
“A suspension, too, for Jordan Ayew. Michael Olise should be okay but I doubt whether Tyrick Mitchell or Eberechi Eze will be fit [for Manchester City next weekend].
“We will put a team out with the players that are left.”
