Crystal Palace winger required surgery on hamstring injury

Crystal Palace winger Michael Olise required surgery on the hamstring injury he picked up on international duty with France’s U21 side, the South London Press understands

Olise, 21, is set to be sidelined for up to three months after suffering a grade three tear in a European Championship win over Norway in June.

Olise scored the only goal of the game – his first at U21 level.

He was ruled out for the rest of the tournament and will miss the start of the Premier League campaign.

With Wilfried Zaha yet to commit his future to the club it leaves Palace boss Roy Hodgson with Jesurun Rak-Sakyi, Malcolm Ebiowei and Scott Banks as his only recognised wingers.

Jordan Ayew, Odsonne Edouard and Eberechi Eze have featured in wider roles.

Olise’s injury could possibly put any plans to loan Rak-Sakyi on ice.
