Departing Chelsea defender pens Rangers deal

Dujon Sterling has agreed a four-year deal to join Rangers from Chelsea once his deal at Stamford Bridge expires this summer.

The defender, who has had loan spells at Blackpool, Stoke and Coventry, will officially move to Ibrox on 1 July.

Sterling has been with Chelsea’s first team since 2017. He made his way through the club’s academy and made his debut during their EFL Cup third-round tie against Nottingham Forest in 2017.

The 23-year-old has been capped by England at U16, 17, 19 and 20 level.

“He is an exciting young player who, I’m sure, will be a great addition to our squad,” Rangers boss Beale said.

“He is someone I was aware of from my time at Chelsea, and I have always kept an eye on his career as it has progressed.

“He is a very powerful and strong defender, who has fantastic attacking qualities and I look forward to working with him at Rangers.”
