‘Disappointed’ – Hibs boss Lee Johnson on Kevin Nisbet’s Millwall transfer move

Hibernian boss Lee Johnson has admitted he is “disappointed” to lose striker Kevin Nisbet on a permanent transfer to Millwall.

The Lions announced on Saturday that they had signed the Scottish 26-year-old on a long-term contract.

Nisbet scored 39 goals in 101 appearances at Easter Road, with Hibs finishing fifth this season in the Scottish Premiership.

The former Raith Rovers and Dunfermline forward has penned a long-term deal at The Den.

The deal will officially go through when the summer transfer window opens on June 14.

Former Bristol City boss Johnson told the club’s website: “We’re disappointed to lose Nizzy after he did so well for us on his return but understand that he wanted to go on a new adventure down south. 

“Although he will be missed, this presents a new opportunity for someone else to step into that role. We thank him for his contribution and wish him all the best in England.”

Hibernian chief executive Ben Kensell added: “After deciding to stay in January, Kevin informed us that he wanted to leave the Football Club this summer, which we understood. 

“Following those discussions, we had to ensure we got the best possible deal for him.

“We’re happy with the fee we received, and we wish him all the best for the future with Millwall.”
