‘Enormous talent’ – Roy Hodgson has special praise for Palace attacker after hat-trick of assists in Palace’s 5-1 win over Leeds
Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson says Michael Olise is an “enormous talent” after the attacker’s display in the 5-1 win over Leeds on Sunday.
Olise recorded three second-half assists, setting up Jordan Ayew, Eberechi Eze and Odsonne Edouard in the second half.
The 21-year-old became the youngest player in Premier League history to assist three goals from open play in a single game.
Only Bukayo Saka has assisted more goals in the league, 17, than Olise, 12, since the start of last season.
The Eagles paid Reading £8million to secure Olise’s services.
“He was spot on with everything in the second half,” said ex-England boss Hodgson.
“We didn’t get enough out of him in the first half – we couldn’t bring him into the game as much as we wanted.
“He was a figure out there in the right-hand side in the first half, but he wasn’t creating the chances or showing as much aggression in his defensive play.
“He got it all right in the second half – defending and attacking. We saw what a wonderful player he is.
“What I make of him is that he’s an enormous talent and has a great possibility of having a wonderful career and future.
“We can only hope that at Crystal Palace, we can give him the platform.”
