Ex-Charlton boss lands Championship job
Former Charlton boss Chris Powell has joined Sheffield Wednesday as Danny Rohl’s assistant manager.
The 34-year-old Rohl was appointed as the Owls’ new boss last week after Xisco Munoz was sacked.
Powell – who rejected the chance to return to The Valley on an interim basis after Dean Holden was sacked – has been out of work after leaving Tottenham’s academy set-up last August.
The former England coach had 161 matches in charge of Charlton before he was sacked by Roland Duchatelet in March 2014.
Powell has also managed Southend and Huddersfield.
“I’m so happy that Chris is now here, he understands football and I’m looking forward to working with him,” Rohl told the club website.
“We met each other working for our national teams. It was immediately a good feeling, I’m feeling a good energy.
“We spoke about getting some experienced guys in. He understands the players, he’s had a great journey and has been at the very top level.”
