Exclusive: Dons set to sign Cambridge forward on loan
AFC Wimbledon are set to sign Cambridge United forward Saikou Janneh on loan.
The South London Press understands that the 23-year-old will spend the rest of the season with Johnnie Jackson’s side.
The Gambian excelled during his loan spell with Torquay United in the National League South in the 2018-19 season, scoring 18 goals in 34 matches in all competitions.
Janneh, who has also had loan spells at Shrewsbury Town and Newport County, left Bristol City in the summer after four seasons at Ashton Gate to join Cambridge on a two-year deal.
The forward has made 17 appearances in all competitions and scored one goal since joining Mark Bonner’s side.
He will bolster Johnnie Jackson’s forward options after Kyle Hudlin returned to Huddersfield, Nathan Young-Coombes was recalled by Brentford, and Qatar Stars League side Al-Wakrah triggered Ayoub Assal’s release clause.
There is no option to buy included in the loan deal.
