Former Charlton loanee signs QPR deal and targets Championship play-offs

Sam Field says he can’t wait for next season after signing on a permanent deal for QPR from West Bromwich Albion.

The former Charlton loanee has signed a three-year contract with an option for a fourth with the R’s.

Field initially signed on loan in January and made 19 appearances and scored one goal in the second half of the season.

“It feels strange to have left West Brom, but I’m delighted to have signed,” he told QPR’s website.

“I’m looking forward to next season already, we’ve only been off for one week but I already want to get going again. I’m hoping to kick on next season.

“Sometimes you feel like chapters are up in your life. West Brom have been absolutely brilliant to me and I can’t thank them enough, but I think this is the right time for me to move on.

“I’ve had a terrible year with injuries, it’s been a very stop-start time for me. I’ve really enjoyed playing games. Since I’ve been available I’ve played every game and that’s credit to the gaffer. I still have a lot more to offer.

“I settled in so well. It’s such a great group of lads here. It just seemed a match made in heaven from day one.

“I’m more of a defensive minded midfielder, but I want to show more stuff going forward so I have to keep striving to improve. I need to add more to the attacking side of my game.

“It’s very strange without the fans. I’m really looking forward to the fans returning. There’s nothing like playing in front of a crowd when the teams playing well, so I’m looking forward to that next season.

“I want us to push on next season, I love the amount of ambition here. We’ve seen teams like Barnsley make the play-offs, so why can’t we? Hopefully this time next season, we may still be going with the play-offs, that’s what we’re aiming for.”
