Former Wimbledon coach Simon Bassey makes Portsmouth move

Former AFC Wimbledon coach Simon Bassey has reportedly agreed to become Portsmouth’s first-team coach.
Lambeth-born Bassey spent 17 years as a player and coach at the Dons.
Bassey made 46 appearances for Wimbledon between 2002 and 2004 as well as acting as Wimbledon caretaker manager in 2012 and 2018.
Portsmouth’s The News are reporting that the former Charlton youngster will become the Blues first team coach and will begin his new job on Monday.
The 45-year-old left Barnet on Thursday, where he had been managing since April. The Bees finished 22nd in the National League.
He will now link up with former Dons youngster Danny Cowley and his brother Nicky.
After announcing his exit from the Bees, Bassey said: “An opportunity has come up for me to work at a higher level, one I felt I couldn’t turn down.”
