GB’s Pinnington-Jones to play two matches in one day after reaching boys’ singles quarter-finals

Great Britain’s Jack Pinnington-Jones is through to the quarter-final of the boys’ singles after victory over Macedonia’s Kalin Ivanovski on Court 3.

In a tight first set both players held serve until 5-5, when the number seven seed struck to break.

Despite having break points against himself in the next game, the world number eight held on to take the first set 7-5.

And those final moments of the first set were the decisive ones in the match, as Pinnington-Jones raced through the second 6-0 to book a place in the quarter-finals.

Pinnington-Jones is a member of the LTA’s Pro Scholarship Programme, which provides world-class coaching, medical and financial support to Britain’s elite young players with the potential to reach the top 100 within five years.

He will have been pleased to have had a relatively easy second set – as Pinnington-Jones will be back on Court 3 later today to face American Victor Lilov, who also won this morning.

The junior matches are playing catch-up after the poor weather earlier this week at the All England Club.
