Huddersfield Town cut short striker’s Wimbledon loan deal
Huddersfield Town have activated their January recall clause in Kyle Hudlin’s AFC Wimbledon season-long loan deal.
Hudlin, 22, joined the Dons on a season-long loan after Jack Rudoni made the club-record switch to Huddersfield in the summer.
The former Solihull Moors forward made 18 appearances in all competitions under Johnnie Jackson, scoring four goals and recording one assist.
The Terriers, who are 23rd in the Championship, had a January recall clause in Hudlin’s loan deal.
Hudlin only started twice in League Two under Jackson.
The Dons boss wants attacking additions in this January window.
Speaking after the 2-1 defeat to Sutton on New Year’s Day, Jackson said: “It [the attacking department] is somewhere we definitely need to strengthen.
“Huddersfield have a recall option on Kyle Hudlin. There is a good chance that we will lose him as well. We will be really light in numbers in the attacking department.
“We have a regular dialogue with them [Huddersfiled]. It’s something that they’re monitoring. It’s their call. It has to be within the first week or so of January, so we should know pretty soon.
“He has forced his way into the team in the last few weeks. We will have to wait and see what happens with that one.
“I have got a lot of good, experienced defensive cover there, but we are lacking attacking options.
“There is no getting away from that. Especially if we lose a couple of bodies, we are very light.
“Today, it has affected my starting 11 and it affects the way you can impact the game as well.”
