‘It’s really pleasing place to be’ – Charlton boss Jones has no selection issues for Birmingham City clash

Nathan Jones has a fully-fit Charlton Athletic squad to choose from for Saturday’s League One clash at Birmingham City.

The Addicks beat Peterborough United at home in a late 2-1 win on Tuesday night, with the away side reduced to 10 men in the second half when Emmanuel Fernandez fouled Thierry Small.

Jones has named the same starting 11 in the last four League One outings, with the South Londoners climbing into the play-off spots after a run of just one defeat in their last 13 games.

The Blues are seven points clear at the top of League One, but Charlton are one of two sides, including Shrewsbury, to have taken all three points against them.

“We’re fully fit,” said Jones. “It’s a really pleasing place to be. Thierry recovered. It wasn’t a pleasant tackle, but he was rightly punished.

“It wasn’t a malicious tackle – he overran the ball. It’s one of those ones that can happen in football.

“We’re looking forward to a big test. The ironic thing is that we have had a level of consistency in who we have been able to pick.

“The reason for that is because we haven’t lost many games. When the formula is working, you don’t tend to change it.

“We have really good competition. The people who come off the bench do it with real energy, playing their part in the wins and performances.

“They are headaches, but tactically, we have to be good. We have to play people who are doing well for us.”
