Lee Wallace gives verdict on signing new QPR contract
Lee Wallace is delighted to have signed a one-year extension which means he will be at QPR until 2022.
The Scotsman has made 38 appearances and scored once in his time at the R’s.
“I’m very pleased,” said Wallace. “Especially off the back of the way we finished the season as well. My main aim is always to help the team the best I can in, in terms of league position. It’s a bonus I have signed a new deal for an additional year so I’m happy to be able to stay at the club and I am looking forward to the future.
“[The second half of the season] was excellent. You could see the comparisons of the first half of the season to the second half of the season. That was very pleasing and it was really enjoyable to be part of. We put in some big performances and got some good results. Hopefully we can regain that momentum after a nice break and a good pre season.
“[The injury in my first season at the club] wasn’t ideal. When I did come back, my debut was at Elland Road. I played quite well that day, we went on to lose the game, which was disappointing, but I loved my debut for the club.
“[Mark Warburton’s belief in me] means everything, the manager was a huge part in why I came to the club. I wasn’t able to vindicate the signing as early as I would’ve liked but hopefully I have now, with some of our form this season.
“This squad has got limitless potential, there’s a number of younger players that continue to grow. We’ve got a number of younger players that will go on to have great careers provided they keep learning and they keep working hard. Next season is exciting.
“We have a break now, but we will come back and reflect on last season and see where we need to improve. What pre season will allow, is time on the training pitch with the group. We will try and enter next season and fulfil that potential. We’re looking to move forward and continue to progress.
“It’s been a tough period for everybody. We’re desperate to be able to play in front of the fans. We are hoping the supporters will be back next season and we can move forward together.”
