Lowe point as R’s boss impressed by January signing’s impact

QPR boss Neil Critchley hailed new signing Jamal Lowe’s impact in last weekend’s 2-2 draw with Reading.

Lowe joined the Hoops on a six-month loan deal for the rest of the season from Premier League side Bournemouth.

The 28-year-old came on in the 64th minute at the Madejski Stadium, setting up Tyler Roberts for his first and helping QPR come from 2-0 down to secure a point.

The forward will face his old side Swansea tomorrow. Lowe scored 14 goals in 51 appearances while at the Liberty Stadium.

“Jamal made a big difference when he came on,” said Critchley.

“I understand that when you bring in a new signing, there is a big excitement around them and everybody wants to see him play, but you have to know that he’s come off the back of very little game time.

“He had only been with us for a couple of days of training, so I felt bringing him on later in the game meant he would maybe have an impact. He did have a big impact on the game. He brings a calmness to our game in the final third and didn’t rush things.

“When you give him the ball, he keeps it and usually makes the right decisions. That’s something that we’re probably guilty of as a group, as you saw particularly in the first half.”

The R’s have lost three of their last four matches at Loftus Road.
