Mansfield Town v Charlton Athletic team news: Bowyer rings changes and Billy Clarke make long-awaited return to squad
Lee Bowyer makes nine changes as his side prepare to take on Mansfield in the first round of the FA Cup.
The Addicks boss is using the competition as a chance to give some of his youngsters the chance to shine and rest a number of the more important members of his injury-ravaged squad.
There is also good news as striker Billy Clarke takes a place on the bench for the first time since rupturing his ACL in an away game with Blackburn back in December last year.
Dillon Phillips will step in between the posts, with Aston Villa-loanee Jed Steer on the bench.
The Addicks will play in a 3-5-2. The back-three will see Darren Pratley join Naby Sarr and Anfernee Dijksteel in the heart of defence. Stevenson, who scored a hat-trick on his Addicks debut at Stevenage in the EFL Trophy, will make his second Charlton start at left-wing-back, with Mark Marshall on the right-hand-side.
Academy-graduates George Lapslie and Taylor Maloney will operate in the middle of the park whilst Jamie Ward will play just off the strikers.
Nicky Ajose will be hoping to use this chance to stake a claim for more league appearances as he partners Karlan Grant up-front.
The Addicks only name five on the bench, with Albie Morgan, Tariqe Fosu and Reeco Hackett-Fairchild joining Steer and Clarke.
Charlton: Phillips, Dijksteel, Pratley, Sarr, Stevenson, Lapslie, Maloney, Marshall, Ward, Ajose, Grant. Subs: Steer, Morgan, Fosu, Clarke, Hackett-Fairchild.
