Marcus Browne – who had been interesting Charlton Athletic – completes Oxford United transfer

Marcus Browne – who had been a target for Charlton Athletic earlier in the transfer window – has signed for Oxford United on a permanent deal.
The Addicks were in talks to sign the 24-year-old, but our website broke the news last week that the South London club had opted not to continue pursuing the former West Ham United attacker.
Browne has not played since damaging his ACL in January of last year. He has had two previous loan spells at the Kassam Stadium in the past four years.
Browne told Oxford United’s website: “I’m happy that everything is finally out the way and sorted. It’s actually been quite stressful for me, with what’s gone on.
“As a player, you just want to get in somewhere, and get playing and training. For me, having to wait about while things get sorted, it’s been quite stressful.
“I’m here though now, so I’m buzzing. There is definitely unfinished business here.
“I’m going to come in and play my football, enjoy what I do and it’s nice to know I am here and this is now my club. I’m excited.”
