Millwall boss responds to contract talks question
Gary Rowett says that Millwall are not looking at any new contracts at the moment – and added that he does not get involved in that side.
Connor Mahoney came on for Jed Wallace in a late cameo, the first time the winger has featured for a few months.
When asked if Mahoney – a free agent in July – is playing for a new deal, Rowett said: “I don’t think we’re looking at any new contracts, we’re talking about these players now have to be ready to be involved.
“If they’re ready to be involved and they come on and into the team and they contribute and play well, from the start or off the bench, then that’s really important.
“Quite frankly, things like contracts are not something I really get involved with. My focus is about the players on the pitch and the performances.
“Connor did really well when he came on. He worked incredibly hard. Zak Lovelace, again, comes on for another little seven or eight-minute cameo, where he runs around and he stops people getting out.
“He keeps the ball for us and everyone’s going to be massively important.”
