Millwall to host Crystal Palace in mouthwatering FA Cup third round tie
Millwall will host Crystal Palace at The Den in the third round of the FA Cup.
The last time the two sides met it ended in a 0-0 stalemate in SE16 in the Championship back in April 2013. The Eagles went on to win promotion via the play-offs – Kevin Phillips scoring from the penalty spot to beat Watford. They have been a Premier League club ever since.
Millwall have the upper hand when it comes to the head-to-head record, winning 38, with 30 ending in a draw and Palace tasting victory 29 times.
Millwall defeated the Eagles 3-0 on January 1 2011, with former Crystal Palace winger Jason Puncheon, then on loan from Southampton, scoring a hat-trick. George Burley was sacked immediately after the match, lasting just 25 matches in charge of the Selhurst Park outfit.
The last fixture in the FA Cup between the two South London clubs ended in a 2-1 away win for the Lions in a replay back in January 1985.
Ties are due to be played across the weekend of January 7-10 2022.
