The 21-year-old limped out of Saturday’s home draw with Accrington Stanley and is one of five players who drop out of the starting line-up for this evening’s trip to Lancashire. Ness will visit a specialist next week to assess the extent of the damage.

Steven Sessegnon, who has suffered a reoccurrence of his swollen knee issue, and Gavin Kilkenny are both also absent from the matchday squad.

Jack Payne and Crystal Palace loanee Jes Rak-Sakyi, who was also withdrawn during the game against Stanley, drop to the bench.

Scott Fraser returns after missing the last two with a hip complaint, whilst Albie Morgan and Tyreece Campbell are also recalled.

Mandela Egbo features on the bench, his first involvement in an Addicks squad since rupturing his quad during the epic 4-4 draw with Ipswich back in October.
