Nathaniel Clyne’s Crystal Palace future settled as defender signs contract extension

Nathaniel Clyne has signed a contract extension that will keep him at Crystal Palace until at least the end of the season, Roy Hodgson has revealed.

The defender re-joined the South Londoners in the summer on a six-month deal after being released by Liverpool. His contract was set to expire this month but the Eagles have managed to tie him down to fresh terms until the end of the campaign.

Clyne – a Palace academy graduate who departed for Southampton in 2012 – has made 10 appearances this season. The 29-year-old played 133 times in his first spell with the Selhurst Park outfit after making his debut under Neil Warnock in October 2008.

Hodgson said: “He’s still with us, Nathaniel is. He’s signed a contract that will keep him with us at least until the end of the season and possibly beyond.

“I don’t know the full details of the contract. I’m certainly not anxious to disclose them.

“But the good thing is that he’s available for me as a player and he will be available for the next games if I want to use him, because he has signed a contract with the club.”
