O’Gorman out of action after Knockhill horror crash

Erith teenage race sensation, Casey O’Gorman is recovering at home after a high speed crash at the latest round of the British Talent Cup left him with multiple injuries.

Whilst sitting third quickest in the Saturday’s second practice session, a fellow rider ran into the back of O’Gorman on the fast approach to Taylor’s Hairpin, sending both riders barrelling into the gravel at high speed.

The incident snapped the the Honda NSF250’s frame in half and sent O’Gorman to the tracks medical centre before being transported to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee.

The youngster was declared fit to travel home on Monday.

O’Gorman said on social media, “Unfortunately, on Saturday in FP2 for the Honda British Talent Cup I was hit from behind by another rider at the fastest and worst possible spot.

“I tried to jump off my bike before it hit the barrier but the impact from behind had knocked my hands off the handle bars and I just managed to throw myself off before hitting the barriers air fence.

“It was a very heavy fall with the impact resulting in multiple injuries I was stabilised at the scene by the brilliant medical team at Knockhill Racing Circuit and moved to Dundee hospital.

“I have been working with the trauma and physio teams here to try and get back on my feet again as soon as possible. It will be a long and expensive recovery ahead.

“Massive thanks to all the staff at Ninewells Hospital.”
