Palace boss Patrick Vieira ‘frustrated’ by referee in Chelsea defeat

Crystal Palace boss Patrick Vieira believed that “too many decisions” went against his side in Sunday’s 1-0 defeat to Chelsea.

The Eagles received their first booking in the 26th minute when Cheick Doucoure was booked for a foul on Conor Gallagher.

Nathaniel Clyne, Will Hughes, Eberechi Eze, and Marc Guehi were also issued with yellow cards of their own during the 90 minutes.

The Palace boss was booked in the 80th minute by Peter Bankes for stepping outside of his technical area.

Referee Banks adjudged that Palace committed 17 fouls during the match at Stamford Bridge.

Kai Havertz scored the only goal of the match in the 64th minute after he escaped Cheick Doucoure and planted a header from a short corner routine past Vicente Guaita.

Palace had nine shots during the encounter but could not find a way past Kepa in the Chelsea goal.

“We did enough to at least get a point today,” admitted Vieira.

“There was a lot of frustration on my side because we got too many decisions against us.

“What is important is to understand that we don’t want any kind of favour – we want to be treated like everybody else.

“There were too many decisions today which went against us. The frustration grows from game after game.”
