Player ratings from Crystal Palace’s 1-1 draw with Nottingham Forest – Former Watford midfielder impresses again

Crystal Palace picked up a point in their final game of the Premier League season after a 1-1 draw at home to Nottingham Forest.

Here are Edmund Brack’s player ratings from Selhurst Park:

SAM JOHNSTONE – 6

Great save in the 34th minute to stop Willy Boly from doubling Forest’s lead.

JOEL WARD – 6

Good clearance to stop Morgan Gibbs-White from having a shot at goal from the edge of the box in the closing stages of the second half.

JOACHIM ANDERSEN – 5

Was chopped past by Taiwo Awoniyi for Forest’s opener.

MARC GUEHI – 6

Played the best pass of the game, switching possession from defence to Michael Olise out on the right-hand side.

TYRICK MITCHELL – 6

Coped well against Brennan Johnson.

Linked up well going forward in the second half. He played a nice one-two with Jordan Ayew in the 75th minute. But Ayew couldn’t apply the finishing touch after being taken to the ground by Joe Worrall.

CHEICK DOUCOURE – 6

Played a clever pass through the Forest defence as Palace searched for an equaliser, but Edouard failed to latch onto the through ball.

Was replaced by James McArthur in the 67th minute.

WILL HUGHES – 7

Great thinking to stoop ahead of Willy Boly and head Palace’s equaliser past Wayne Hennessey in the 66th minute.

EBERECHI EZE – 6

Had Palace’s best chance of the best first half, collecting Michael Olise’s cross inside the area and bringing the ball under his control. However, Ayew blocked the shot on the line.

Could have won the game in added time after he brought the ball down and went past Joe Worrall. However, shot straight at Hennessey.

MICHAEL OLISE7

Sensational left-footed whip to find Eze inside the area for his chance in the 29th minute.

Grabbed another assist – his 11th of the season – to find Hughes for Palace’s equaliser. Played a delicate pass to find Jean-Philippe Mateta inside the area with five minutes to go, but the French forward could not squeeze his shot at goal.

JORDAN AYEW – 6

Blocked Eze’s early effort on the line, but linked up well with Mitchell in the second half.

ODSONNE EDOUARD – 5

Gave possession away for Forest’s opener and missed a golden chance to pull Palace level before half-time when he was left unmarked from a Michael Olise free-kick, but headed the chance wide.

Was replaced by Jean-Philippe Mateta in the 67th minute.

SUBS 

JEAN-PHILIPPE MATETA – 5

Great run to set Palace away on the break in the 73rd minute. He sprinted down the touchline and found Olise at the back post, However, the young Frenchman’s header back into the danger zone was cleared before it reached Eze.

JAMES MCARTHUR – NA

Got his final few moments on the Selhurst Park pitch.
