Player ratings from Crystal Palace’s 3-2 win over Wolves – Forward duo score highly as defender picks up attacking contribution
Crystal Palace picked up their first home win of the 2023-24 Premier League campaign after beating Wolves 3-2 on Sunday afternoon.
A brace from Odsonne Edouard and a strike from Eberechi Eze gave the Eagles all three points.
Jean-Philippe Mateta also picked up two assists from the bench.
Here are Edmund Brack’s player ratings from Selhurst Park:
SAM JOHNSTONE – 6
Good save to push over Pedro Neto’s shot – which deflected off Joel Ward – in the 41st minute.
Could do nothing about Wolves’ first or second goal.
JOEL WARD – 7
Had to deal with the pace of Pedro Neto but managed to keep the Portuguese winger fairly frustrated throughout the 90 minutes.
Played the pass for Jean-Philippe Mateta to set up Eze’s first and Palace’s second.
MARC GUEHI – 6
Dealt well with Matheus Cunha but let the Brazilian forward go for Wolves’ second.

CHEICK DOUCOURE – 7
Completed six of his seven tackles and made three interceptions.

Lost Hwang Hee-Chan for Wolves’ equaliser in the 65th minute.
Headed Eze’s corner straight at Sa as Palace looked to restore their lead.
JEFFREY SCHLUPP – 6
Won two aerial battles but is very limited out on the left-hand side.
Was replaced by Jean-Philippe Mateta in the 70th minute.
EBERECHI EZE – 7
Lovely driving run in the 13th minute to create Palace’s first real sight of goal.
Caused a real problem for Wolves midfielder Joao Gomes in the early stages of the second half.
Took his goal really well – poking an effort beyond Sa after collecting Mateta’s knockdown.

Nealy added his second in added time but was thwarted by Sa’s smart stop down to his right.
JORDAN AYEW – 6
Had a chance cleared off the line by Max Kilman in the 15th minute. Perhaps should have converted the effort with more conviction.
Forced a good save from Sa when he robbed Rayan Ait-Nouri on the edge of the box.
ODSONNE EDOUARD – 8
Nice link-up play – setting through Ayew for a Schlupp chance in the 18th minute.
Took his opener well, darting between two Wolves defenders to edge Mitchell’s cross beyond Jose Sa.

Excellent finish after linking up well with Mateta for his second and Palace’s third.
SUBS:
JEAN-PHILIPPE MATETA – 8
An excellent cameo from the French forward. Grabbed two assists, with his involvement in Edouard’s second particularly impressive.
A top week for the 26-year-old after his hat-trick against Plymouth in midweek.
