QPR boss ‘bitterly frustrated’ by late Swansea equaliser

QPR boss Neil Critchley says it was bitterly frustrating for his side to concede a late equaliser against Swansea City on Saturday.

The Hoops took the lead through Bournemouth loanee Jamal Lowe in the 27th minute after he turned inside the penalty area and drilled a shot into the bottom left-hand corner of Steven Benda’s goal.

Russell Martin’s side picked up a point in the 81st minute when Jay Fulton collected the ball on the edge of the area and placed a shot beyond Seny Dieng and into the bottom left-hand corner.

QPR came back from two goals down to pick up a point against Reading last time out.

“Last week felt like a good point – this week feels like a disappointing point,” said Critchley.

“One of frustration. But you can see signs of progress in the team – we’re nearly a really good team.

“With the amount of times that we won the ball back, sprung counter-attacks, but didn’t make the most of those situations – we didn’t show enough conviction or were ruthless enough in those moments.

“In the second half, because of the way they play, the possession they have, and the human nature of us holding onto the result, you’re relying on that moment going in your favour.

“That was probably the only one shot they had in the game. It’s bitterly frustrating.”
