QPR boss Mark Warburton: We didn’t use the ball well enough
Mark Warburton was disappointed that QPR didn’t take care of the ball well enough in their 2-1 defeat against West Bromwich Albion last night.
Andre Gray scored after 45 seconds to give the Hoops the lead before former Charlton striker Karlan Grant scored a brace to give the Baggies all three points.
Warburton said: “That’s exactly why Andre started, to get in behind and that’s exactly what he did. We got the early goal and then we frustrated them. Unfortunately we invited them on and sat too deep but still Seny didn’t have a save of note to make.
“To be in that position after 75 minutes and end up coming away with nothing is the most frustrating part. We were 15 minutes away from winning the game but we didn’t take care of the ball.
“The players know they should have taken at least a point at Bournemouth, they know we should have taken all three against Bristol City. But that’s the Championship, it can be ugly, it can be messy and we have to stand up, show character and do the last part.
“Seny’s the first to hold his hands up [for the first goal] but we need to do better as a team and we let ourselves down with the second goal. We need to learn to manage the game better in those situations.”
