QPR release striker who Charlton tried to land in last transfer window
QPR have terminated Macauley Bonne’s contract by mutual consent just four days into the January transfer window.
Charlton, under Ben Garner at the time, saw a transfer deadline day loan move for Bonne fall through in the summer window.
Bonne has only played 57 minutes of Championship football this season.
Bonne, 27, signed a three-year deal at Loftus Road in 2020 after leaving Charlton and made 44 appearances and scored three goals for the west Londoners.
The Zimbabwe international scored 12 goals in 40 appearances during his time at The Valley.
In a statement on the club’s website, QPR said: “The 27-year-old has had his contract terminated by mutual consent with immediate effect.
“Bonne joined the R’s from Charlton Athletic in October 2020 and went on to make 44 appearances for us in all competitions, scoring three goals.
“Thirty-four of those outings came from the bench and he spent last season on loan at Ipswich Town.
“The club would like to thank Macauley for his services and wish him every success for the future.”
