Scottish Premiership side eyeing summer move for Wimbledon defender

Scottish Premiership side Motherwell are eyeing a summer move for AFC Wimbledon defender Jack Currie.

The South London Press also understands there has been interest from the Belgian Pro League in the 22-year-old.

Currie is in the final six months of his original deal at Plough Lane, but the club will exercise an option to extend his stay by a further 12 months in the summer.

The left-back would be free to sign a pre-contract agreement with sides outside of England from January 2025.

The Wimbledon academy graduate recently recorded his 100th senior appearance, having featured 33 times during his loan spell at Eastbourne Borough in the 2021-22 season.

He made his League Two debut for the Dons at the start of the 2022-23 campaign under Johnnie Jackson and has notched up 77 outings so far across all competitions.

Bristol City made several attempts to sign Currie last January, but a deal was unable to be reached with the Championship side.

He missed the start of the 2023-24 campaign after picking up a quad injury in the 2-0 pre-season win over National League side Wealdstone but has been an ever-present in the side since returning to full fitness.
