Vieira confirms Palace youngster could leave on loan again after ‘disappointing’ Coventry spell

Patrick Vieira says there is a possibility Tayo Adaramola can head out on loan this January transfer window after he was recalled from Coventry City in September.

The Crystal Palace boss also admitted the left-back’s loan spell with the Sky Blues was a “disappointing” one.

Adaramola made his Crystal Palace first-team debut last season in the fourth-round FA Cup win over Hartlepool United. The youngster was then handed his first start by Vieira in the next round of the competition, playing 65 minutes in the 2-1 win against Stoke City.

Palace academy graduate Adaramola, 21, has been back with Palace’s U21 side since returning to Selhurst Park.

There’s a possibility,” said Vieira of Adaramola leaving Palace on loan this January.

The Republic of Ireland U21 international made just one appearance for Mark Robins’ side – a 4-1 defeat away to Bristol City in the EFL Cup – before the Eagles exercised the recall option in his season-long loan deal.

He failed to make a matchday squad in the Championship for Coventry.

“It’s been really challenging,” said Vieira, when asked how Adaramola had bounced back from being recalled early.

“When you’re talking about character and personality, those young players need to learn from the step back.

“To do that, we will need to show them the right support and love for them to kick on and go again.

“It was a disappointing loan for him, but we still trust him and expect a lot from him. We will work with him and show him the attention he needs at the moment.

“Every single experience is a good experience – there is always something positive to take.

“His mind is open. He has to see if he did everything right to play more or to play better, but there is something to take from an experience such as that.”
