Victim named after ‘car stabbing’ in Lewisham as four men arrested

Detectives have named a man who was killed after receiving a stab wound to the neck as he sat in a parked car.

The Met’s Specialist Crime Command have named him as 19-year-old Jeremiah Sewell from Bellingham.

Mr Sewell managed to get to a South London hospital after the incident, which allegedly happened at around 4.40am in Beckenham Place Park, Lewisham, but he died soon after.

His family are aware and continue to be supported by specially trained officers as the investigation continues.

Overnight and into the early hours of Sunday, detectives made four arrests as part of their investigation. Two men have been arrested on suspicion of murder – one aged 19, the other 18.

Two other men, a 21-year-old and a 26-year-old were arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.

All four remain in police custody.

Detective Chief Inspector Chris Wood, leading the investigation, said: “My thoughts continue to be with Jeremiah’s family and friends. Jeremiah’s family deserve answers about what happened to him and who was responsible for his death.

“We are working hard to provide those answers and while our investigation has significantly progressed we still need members of the pubic to come forward and tell us what they know.
