Could Fulham be about to lose quality loan signing?

BY RICHARD CAWLEY

Alphonse Areola’s future could be under scrutiny next month – with Fulham hoping the keeper’s stay in west London is not cut short.

Reports have claimed that Paris Saint-Germain are ready to listen to offers for the 27-year-old, who is on loan with the Whites.

Areola has been an excellent addition but his wages – thought to equate to just under £150,000 a week – are likely to be a stumbling block for Fulham to meet, although they do hold an option to make the switch permanent.

Areola’s shotstopping heroics between the posts for the Whites is also likely to have attracted interest from other clubs.

The Paris-born keeper has kept three clean sheets in 14 matches and produced some exceptional stops for Scott Parker’s side.

Ademola Lookman and Joachim Andersen, loan additions from RB Leipzig and Lyon respectively, have also been undoubted upgrades to Fulham’s playing squad.

Winger Anthony Knockaert could be back at Craven Cottage next month. His loan stay at Nottingham Forest is due to end on January 7.
